How it works
Power Blackjack changes both the shoe and the permitted extra wagers. It uses eight decks with the 9s and numbered 10s removed while keeping picture cards. Players may double, triple or quadruple down on their first two cards, including after a split. Those differences make ordinary blackjack assumptions a poor shortcut for understanding this variant.
Power Blackjack changes the available cards as well as the amount that can be added after the deal. Both changes matter: a larger permitted wager does not make a hand better, and a familiar total does not restore the probabilities of an ordinary shoe.
The differences that matter
- The eight-deck shoe contains 64 fewer cards because 9s and numbered 10s are removed.
- Double, triple and quadruple down are listed.
- The dedicated game page explicitly excludes Six Card Charlie.
- Any Pair, 21+3, Hot 3 and Bust It are optional.
What removing 9s and 10s changes
The specified shoe uses eight decks with numbered 9s and 10s removed. Jacks, queens and kings remain. From eight ordinary 52-card decks, removing eight cards per deck leaves 352 cards rather than 416.
The following fresh-shoe comparison is independently calculated from that composition. There are 96 picture cards among 352 cards, approximately 27.27%. An ordinary eight-deck shoe contains 128 ten-value cards among 416 cards, approximately 30.77%. There are still 32 aces, so their share rises from approximately 7.69% to 9.09%.
These are starting composition proportions, not the probability of winning a hand. Dealt cards change the remaining composition, and the final outcome also depends on decisions and settlement rules. An ordinary blackjack strategy chart therefore needs more justification than simply having the same target of 21.
Doubling, tripling and quadrupling are extra commitments
The dedicated page permits doubling, tripling or quadrupling on the initial two cards, including after a split. The useful budget distinction is the final stake versus the amount added.
Illustrative example: starting with 10 units, a double brings the stake to 20 by adding 10. A triple brings it to 30 by adding 20. A quadruple brings it to 40 by adding 30. If that enlarged wager loses, the loss reflects the total committed, not just the original chip.
Keep enough information from the decision screen to distinguish the main hand, any split hand and optional side bets. A displayed opportunity to increase a wager is a rule permission, not a prediction that the hand will win.
The Six Card Charlie source conflict
The dedicated Power Blackjack page excludes Six Card Charlie. The broad blackjack overview contradicts itself: its Power section also excludes the rule, but a later Charlie paragraph includes Power. This guide follows the dedicated description and leaves the discrepancy visible; verify the active table rules before relying on either interpretation.
Before choosing a table
- Use the variant’s actual rules when considering a decision.
- Check the additional amount committed when tripling or quadrupling.
- Verify the in-game Six Card Charlie wording because an overview page contradicts the dedicated source.
Return to player: read the scope
No scoped RTP supplied in the consulted dedicated page.
A return percentage describes a long-run model under specified rules. It is not the probability that your next wager wins, and it does not promise a session result. Different bet positions can have different returns.
Power Blackjack questions
Are all cards worth ten removed?
No. Numbered 10s are removed, while picture cards remain.
Is quadrupling the same as adding four more stakes?
No. In the illustrative 10-unit example, a fourfold final stake is 40 units, requiring 30 additional units.
